Present day Halloween differs greatly from the way Halloween use to be celebrated. Two thousand years ago, on October 31, the Celts celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. During this time, the Celts would cause trouble and damage crops, but they also believed that with the spirits walking the earth, that the priests would have an easier time predicting the future.
