It may be a special bracelet, a hat, a ring, necklace, or maybe some article of clothing. The lucky charms that go with St. Patrick’s Day are shamrocks, four leaf clovers, leprechauns, and pots of gold. Many believe that if you are not Irish then you need to have one of these year round to have the luck of the Irish.

Going Green

With St. Patrick’s Day fast approaching lets look at some of the traditions that have past down through the years. On this particular day many people wear the color green to honor Ireland, if you are caught not wearing green then someone gets to pinch you. Some say that if someone pinches you, you get to pinch them back ten times. Reminds you of something that we all used to do in elementary school, right? Many people put up shamrock and leprechaun decorations to really get into the spirit. In Chicago, Illinois the people really get bring out the holiday festivities by dyeing their river green. That would truly be something interesting to see.

St. Patrickʼs Day

On March 17th, we celebrate Saint Patrickʼs Day. Many people have no idea how the tradition started or what it represents, so I am going to write a little bit on the subject. This day is a national holiday in Ireland and is celebrated worldwide by the Irish and the non-Irish people, most of them are Australians and North Americans. Many these days celebrate with floats, wearing green, shamrocks, luck, and drinking different types of Irish beverages. St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
Saint Patrick was believed to have banished all snakes from Ireland, he was also well known for converting many thousands of pagan believers. It is said that he used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the concept of the Trinity, which refers to the combonation of Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. He died on March 17, AD 461. That day has been commemorated as St. Patrick's Day ever since.
